Idaho Moon, June 13th, 2024.
Looks...spooky? Majestic? Like a slice of Swiss Cheese?
This was shot through my telescope with an astrophotography camera (the same one that I've been using for galaxies and nebulas many thousands or millions of light years away).
When photographing a nebula, I take very long single frame exposures (5-10 minutes long). These objects are very faint and the light takes a long time to reach Earth.
With the moon, I record a video (through the telescope) and end up with thousands of frames of data. The best 25% frames are stacked together using a program called AutoStakkert. This produces a high quality composite.
Astrophotography cameras swivel to orient celestial objects in any number of ways. I thought this orientation looked most interesting.
I'm still looking for moon bases...maybe they are on the other side?
Enjoy!
